Great Things Seen & Heard   

  • A school visitor informed us that one of our staff members may need a reminder that the grocery store has PDA requirements.
  • A student expressed frustration over not being able to find the Dance teacher in our building, but the staff members who heard about the frustration thought the student should attend more to know where to find people.
  • Does MK stand for Mary Kay, or Michael Kors?

Feedback is one of the most important elements in classroom learning, which is why we all dissuade students from handing all their assignments in on the last day. Training students to use teacher feedback to augment their learning would certainly improve their results and could well provide a solution to the piles of last-minute marking. Many educators have learned that feedback should be within 24 to 48 hours, and this article agrees with that premise, offering solutions for the overwhelmed teacher and resources to make the job easier:

Bits & Pieces

  • Assessment Week Supervision schedule completed but subject to change.
  • Packing up CTS/Fashion Lab in full force this week.
  • Semester Two has been adjusted for a few courses; updated on shared doc January 19th.
  • Learning Commons will be closed on all Diploma Exam days.
  • All report card marks (paper copy and online) into office for Monday morning, January 29th, at 8:30 AM except those few with exams on the last two days.
  • Regular biweekly (staff) meeting on January 29th, 3:35 PM to 4:35 PM.
  • Potluck Lunch baby shower for JP.
  • Moving CTS/Fashion Lab to Room 141 on January 31st.
  • PD Day on January 31st : Team Collaboration in AM (with CG upon request); Wellness in PM
  • ATA local executive meeting on January 31st (NM & EV).
  • Grad Information Meeting on February 1st in Room 155.
  • Sucker Creek Lunch on February 2nd,
  • Parent Society Bottle Drive will take place on March 2nd.
  • Next regular biweekly meeting (staff meeting) will be on January 29th, 3:35 PM to 4:35 PM.
  • Gym booking on Sunday evenings continues for the local Basketball league.
