Great Things Seen & Heard   

  • We thought it was funny that our ATA rep was no longer an ATA member but then she discovered all HPSD teachers were accidentally knocked off the membership records. Good thing our rep is on the ball!
  • We learned why students going to Boondocks for lunch are always late for Block 3 classes!
  • Our enrolment is up by 24 students since the end of June. We are squeezing students in!

Clips & Tips

Overhearing a discussion lately led to doing a little research on this topic. Although calling positivity toxic seemed oxymoronic, there is logic behind the thinking. Nonetheless, the idea of labelling any opinion that differs from one’s own as “shaming” (as does this article) is worth a deep discussion on its own. Take a look here:

  • A teacher accidentally called another teacher a dickhead. Oops!
  • Who stole the confiscated bong from the PVO library? No students were left in the building when it disappeared, so it must have been…
  • With the end of the year teacher-fuzzy-brain syndrome, $500 per month for ten years adds up to $5000! Is that new math?

  • Monday, August 28th: Teachers all attend Land-Based Learning in Joussard, bus departing 8:30 AM.
  • Tuesday, August 29th: Hopefully, repaving of our staff parking lot (again).
  • Tuesday, August 29th: Administrators and New Teacher Orientation at Division Office, 9:30-15:30 while others work at school.
  • Wednesday, August 30th: PD Day—9:00 AM in Room 141: specialist councils, assignable time, report card dates, and culture conversation for the coming year including timeframe for new, motivational activities (as seen on the Committee Sign-Up sheet).
  • Wednesday, August 30th: Choose a restaurant to meet for lunch.
  • Wednesday, August 30th: PD Day—1:00 PM in Room 141: subject area collaboration as scheduled (TBA) and phone calls to Bay Day parents when not in collaboration meetings.
  • Thursday, August 31st: PD Day—9:00 AM in Room 141: assessment practices and standards.
  • Thursday, August 31st: New superintendent and team visit our school at 11:00 AM.
  • Thursday, August 31st: PD Day—1:00 PM in Room 141: collaboration as scheduled (TBA).
  • Friday, September 1st: All staff attend morning Staff Meeting at 8:30 AM in Room 141: Safety Review, Basic Procedures Review, Confidentiality Review, Committee sign-up confirmation, choose duties for Open House on September 12th (date to be confirmed).
